In 1962 Michigan could not hold any UKC Competition event's, because out of state hunters could not hunt in the state. There was a need for a change in the law, and seven club's in the state found a need to unite for the purpose of getting the existing law changed. There was an election held, and "Hill Billy", Dan Reeves was elected first president of the Michigan State United Coon Hunters Association Mr. Reeves held the status, until he was replaced by Dave Dean in 1965 thru 1967. Dave Dean was replaced by Mr. Charley Remaley in 1968 thru 1982.

The need for Legislative changes did not end, and Charley, and the State Association continued to pursue changes in the State Law's to better, and continue our support of coonhunting. Mr.Relaley served as President thru 1971. In 1972 Mr. Max Schneider became the President of the Association. Max and the officer's also spent many hours of their time trying to improve the laws that control the sport of Coonhunting. Max dedicated the next 10 years of his life serving as president.

In 1983 Ron Thomas was elected President and served thru 1984. The need for this association is as great, or possibly greater than ever. This association will continue to grow, and serve the Coonhunters of Michigan, as long as club's, and people continue to support our great Association.

More than ever before, coonhunters in the state of Michigan can count on the Michigan State United Coonhunters Association MSUCHA to keep current with legistlation that may have an effect on the sport of coonhunting. And when the need arises, utilize an effecient communication network to inform coonhunters of a need to rise and ensure that the voice of Michigan coonhunter is heard by our elected Senators and Congressmen.
